ABOUT THE HIVE

After 25 years in education (17 as a principal), I thought retirement would be quiet. Turns out, all those years of solving problems and navigating systems just taught me one thing: I was ready to create without limits.

Nerd Hive was born during late-night work sessions with Claude (yes, the AI), fueled by 2am creative bursts and rate limit frustrations. What started as math humor evolved into something bigger—celebrating EVERY type of nerd. Gaming legends, STEM geniuses, book hoarders, wellness warriors, and everyone in between.

Here's the best part: All my kids give me feedback on the designs. My son (aerospace engineer) vets the STEM humor for technical accuracy. This isn't just me making shirts. It's a whole community of nerds helping each other feel seen.

But none of this happens without my husband. He's gone to bed alone most nights while I hyperfocus on designs at 2am. He's patient, supportive, and still the love of my life after all these years. And my circle of women—my mom, my four sisters, and the friends who keep telling me "just keep going"—they're the reason I haven't quit when it got hard. This is what happens when you're surrounded by people who believe in you.

I'm having the time of my life. Working at ungodly hours because creativity doesn't follow a schedule. Building something where passion becomes the brand. Where every shirt is an inside joke that makes you feel like you found your people. Where being different isn't just accepted—it's celebrated.
